LAVC Intervention Strategies Journal

Description

For this journal entry I would like you to reflect on what kind of strategies your agency uses. Please state and define the strategy(ies), discuss examples and ask yourself what strategies you find most beneficial.   Lastly, you should be asking yourself what connections can be made between course content and your interview?

Interview #2- Intervention Strategies Employed PREVIEW

New York Institute For Special Education is a private nonprofit school in New York City.

I called this service and I was still talking with Ariana Manz . Ariana Manz: Social Worker at a kindergarten for Blind and Autistic Children Bronx, NY. She was ready for any questions I gave her . I was really satisfied and I understood what work she does.

I was given a lot of questions. I am really happy to talk with her and she gave me all my answers.

What strategies are employed by your agency?

When working with parents and children, it’s sometimes just a matter of “handing over the keys” to the specialists at the agency. However, in order for an agency/business strategy to be effective, the parents must collaborate. If they don’t, confusion, irritation, and disappointment will inevitably occur on both sides.

If multiple ones, which ones?

Both parents are likely to be working with me and they may be concerned about their kids . Many (if not most) parents just do not have the time or attention to sit down and thoroughly deal with every scenario that arises with their children.

What do these strategies look like in action?

I teach my students six effective learning strategies.

Practice on a regular basis. … Retrieval Practice. Spread out your studying over time. Explanation. Practice recalling information without the use of materials. Explain and describe concepts in great depth. Dual Coding…. Interleaving…. Concrete Examples.

How are you able to improve the difficult situation?

When difficulties develop, I do not rush to solve them for the children. Instead, assist them in completing the problem-solving processes. When they need help, I provide it, but I also encourage them to solve challenges on their own. If they’re having trouble coming up with ideas, step in and assist them. But don’t tell them what to do right away.
