This is an individual activity in which you will read the questions and post your answers below. Use the content materials and other resources (e.g., media, articles) which are embedded into the Modules page as references to complete this activity.

Health, Safety, and Nutrition
When you work with children, think about the following reflection questions:
- When and what did this child last eat?
- When was the last time this child brushed his/her teeth (applies to older children)?
- Does anyone comb/brush this child’s hair?
- Why is this child acting out or quiet more than usual today?
- Does the child show signs of neglect or maltreatment?
- Is this child wearing the same shirt without it being washed?
- Is this child wearing shoes that seem to be too big or small?
- Does this child know how to cross a street? Does the child know crosswalk rules?
- Is this child running around with scissors? Is he/she aware of dangers within his/her environment?

Research and Create a Parent Newsletter (PowerPoint upload is optional):
- Pick a topic pertaining to health (e.g., brushing teeth), safety (e.g., wearing seatbelts) or nutrition (e.g., soda vs. water) based on what this week’s readings.
- Create a newsletter or brochure to parents about the importance of children’s health, safety, OR nutrition.
- On the newsletter include a list of facts or data; how parents can help their children at home or community; and, what teachers are doing in the classroom to help their children, as well.
