Description

APA style 300 words per scenario – Please be sure to support your response with citation(s) and references.

Write Describe how you would work with each type of patient using therapeutic communications.

Scenario I: Describe how you would do a suicide assessment on a distraught patient who comes to the physician’s office expressing concerns about her ability to cope with her current situation. Describe how you would approach this patient if you determined she was suicidal. How might this assessment look differently depending on the phase of the therapeutic relationship? (Support your rationale with the literature)

Scenario II: Describe how you would communicate with a patient who is concerned that the diagnosis of bipolar disorder will negatively affect his or her social and work relationships. (Support your rationale with the literature)

Scenario III: Your depressed patient does not seem inclined to talk about the depression. Describe the measures you would take to initiate a therapeutic relationship with him or her. (Support your rationale with the literature).

Drug treatment considerations

Scenario 1: (Antimania Drugs) – A 23 yr old soccer player is taking lithium. He practices 4 days a week and perspires a lot, thus his nurse is concerned about lithium levels being consistent. What should the nurse be considering (Boyd & Luebbert, 2020; Keltner & Steele, 2019) ?

Scenario 2: (Antianxiety Drugs) – Although, barbiturates and benzodiazepines both affect GABA receptors, why can an overdose of barbiturates (without co-administration of other drugs) be fatal, whereas an overdose of benzodiazepines (without co-administration of other drugs) is apparently not fatal (Boyd & Luebbert, 2020; Keltner & Steele, 2019) ?

Scenario 3: (Antidementia Drugs) – If someone you know has been diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease (AD), would it be a good idea for them to start taking a nosteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) (Boyd & Luebbert, 2020; Keltner & Steele, 2019) ?
