Johnson & Wales University Pyramid of Evidence Discussion
Description
- As may be obvious, we can evaluate Applied Research in much the same way that we can look at Basic (academic) Research. Remember, Applied Research is specific to research within the organization or directly involving the population directly impacted by the immediate decision, so a Meta-analysis involving an assessment of a number of previous studies is not an option for Applied Research. But, all of the other research models on the Pyramid of Evidence are possible.Depending on the data to be collected, it may be possible to conduct one of the longitudinal designs or a correlational study. As with all research intended to generate useful information for decision making, the more credible (e.g., the higher on the Pyramid) the better.Marketing Research is perhaps the most prevalent manifestation of Applied Research. For this week’s discussion, identify a market research example and describe it, paying particular attention to the credibility of the study (per the Pyramid of Evidence). By sure to provide sufficient detail of the methodology and identify the outcome of the study.(200-300 words)
