HUMN 4030 WU WEEK 3 Mental Health Crisis Discussion
Question Description
I’m working on a humanities case study and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
How is stabilization different from providing safety and Comfort?
Is the child/teen you have chosen showing signs of Emotional Overwhelm? If so, what signs are they exhibiting?
- If so, what are some of the techniques you would be comfortable in leading the child/teen through to help them reorient themselves
In order to help your chosen child/teen further you will need to gather some information about their history. Why is it not a good idea to gather all of the necessary information from the child/teen directly? How does the role of confidentiality fit into this information gathering stage?
- What other actions may NOT be good to take with the child/teen at this point?
- Karin is a 14-year-old adolescent who attends Hart City High School where you work as a social services liaison. Kimberly, another student, informs you that she is concerned about her best friend Karin, who recently ran away from home. You call Karin to your office to determine if you need to make a referral to the Department of Social Services for food or shelter. Karin seems to be experiencing anxiety, as she appears jittery and is easily startled by noises such as a pen dropping or the door closing. When asked if she needs a referral for services, Karin explains that she has been couch surfing at her 32- year-old neighbor’s house, who allows her to stay and eat in exchange for sexual favors.
