Read Sense of Place(Attached File) and consider a natural place (outdoor) or non- outdoor place you visit frequently (museum, pilates studio, animal shelter)  that has special importance to you. 

The Place I’ve chosen is the Naples Beach & Pier Here in my hometown of Naples Florida. Which has been affected by Hurricane Ian dramatically.

STEP 1: In order to get a good sense of place of your location visit their website or social media page and review the history and background of the site. Look over photos and reviews from visitors. Basically take a virtual tour, then a tour in person. Be sure to take photos. 

STEP 2: Consider the role and importance of your site to those who visit and the ecosystem, health, life enrichment etc. What makes it unique and special? 

STEP 3: Write a field trip journal around the following prompts and your thoughts from above:

Describe in your own words your special place. What is its history and importance to you? Help the reader feel like they are actually there with you! (include photos)

If it’s a natural space, provide photos of the habitats or species commonly found there. If a non-natural space, consider how people utilize and enjoy the space. 

How would you feel if your sense of place location was threatened by development or otherwise? Are there any changes to the area (such as human impacts, economic conditions, hurricane, covid setbacks etc) that you’ve noticed over the years? 

How does our relationship with the natural world affect us? either for or against (reference the textbook or other sources)

Be sure to include specific references from your textbook and include media to enhance your journal (photos).
