Conflict Journal

Students will keep a conflict journal, where they will reflect on conflicts they experience in their own lives or around them. One entry, at minimum, is to be completed per week. 

Students should analyze conflicts using relevant conflict resolution theory. Entries should be substantive and provide enough detail for the professor to understand the student’s grasp of course material. Third-party names should be altered to protect the innocent. 

Forum 3:

Current Events and Conflict Management

Provide one example from the news of each of the types of conflict management styles listed below:

Negotiation

Mediation

Judicial Decision or      Legislative Decision

Non-violent Direct Action or      Violence

For each example, write a single paragraph explaining how this conflict is being addressed in that style. Include a link to the news article. Only articles from credible news sources will be accepted.
