Instructions

Consider one homeland security threat within the past 5 years related to civil rights. Examples include events related to the following:

• an active shooter event,
• COVID 19, 
• distrust in policing,
• civil unrest, and
• riots in Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, and other U.S. cities.

Research one threat or event and draft a response that explains the following points. 

• Describe the threat or event, how it occurred, and the outcome.
• Examine the civil rights issues surrounding this event or threat. 
• Assess the United States’ response. Was it effective? Why, or why not?
• Describe how the United States can learn from this incident to mitigate future threats that may be similar. 

You may choose to either submit a written assignment or a video that explains the above bullet points.
