who was the better inventor Edison or TESLA , and why? cite the information and analysis you provide
Nicola Tesla was a Serbian American brilliant and eccentric genius whose inventions allowed modern day power and mass communication systems. His competitor Edison was the inventor of the light bulb, the phonograph and the moving picture. As much as one wants to compare the two and decide who is better, the two are different inventors but you can’t really say one is greater because the current American society needs some Teslas’ and some Edison. Nevertheless, from the various discussions brought forward, Tesla could be termed as more successful and innovative.
As much as Tesla had an eidetic memory which could easily recall images and objects which accurately enabled him to visualize intricate 3D objects, Edison was more of a sketcher and a tinkerer. The light bulb and the moving picture are touted as Edison most important inventions but other people were already working towards similar inventions. Most brilliant minds believe that if Edison had not succeeded in his invention then someone else would have done it. Teslas’ ideas were however more disruptive technologies that didn’t have a built in market demand and his altering current at Niagara Falls truly electrified the world (Kanopy, 2016). He was therefore seen as a futuristic as he was the father of radio, televisions and cell phones. The world today would not be successful without those inventions.
Edisons’ inventions and enduring legacy isn’t a specific patent technology but his work was carried out by legions of workers. He is therefore said to be inventing modern technology as we know it. On the other hand Teslas’ inventions are the backbone of modern power and communication systems which are being used by almost all organizations. Without his inventions the world today would not be as we know it (Hoopla, 2014). From the discussions it can be clearly concluded that Tesla was more witty and inventive than Edison as most of his inventions are used to drive the world today.
