What this Essay should Do

This essay should examine the rhetorical approach of the CDC’s “What is ADHD?” web page, rather than provide details about ADHD. It should explain the purpose and audience of the website, show how the website used ethos, pathos, and logos, and ultimately offer judgment as to whether the rhetorical approach was persuasive.

Structure the Essay like this.

Intro on what the web page is. End with a thesis statement that explains if the site is rhetorically effective and why.

Paragraph on the goals and audience of the web page. Use examples from the web page to show how your interpretation is correct. If desired, you can address these components in the introduction instead of in a separate paragraph.

Paragraph on how the author used pathos (emotion). Include specific examples from the web page. Argue that the approach was or was not persuasive for the particular audience in accomplishing the desired goal(s).

Paragraph on how the author used logos (logic or reasoning). Include specific examples from the web page. Argue that the approach was or was not persuasive for the particular audience in accomplishing the desired goal(s).

Paragraph on how the author used ethos (credibility) Include specific examples from the web page. Argue that the approach was or was not persuasive for the particular audience in accomplishing the desired goal(s).

Conclusion that starts with the thesis statement and wraps everything up.
