Overview

This is your time to shine … even in the online world during a pandemic! You will be making informational ‘fliers’ about an Earth Science Issue in California (even better if you can relate it to San Diego County) to share with the rest of the class and will be critiquing another peer’s work.

You have been randomly assigned to Final Project Groups, which consist of 3 – 4 students. You will work with your groups on your preliminary informational fliers and your critiques. Your final informational fliers will be shared by a Discussion Board with the rest of the class.

Instructions

  1. You need to choose an Earth Science Issue in California for your project. No student is allowed to have the same topic, so make sure to claim yours on the signup sheet by February 27, 2022.
  2. For your chosen topic, you need to make an informational flier giving an overview of your topic along with recommendations for how to address it.
  3. You will need to upload your fliers to your Preliminary Informational Flier by March 27, 2022. This will be visible only to your Final Project Group.
  4. You will then need to critique another student’s flier. You will upload your critique to the Informational Flier Critique by April 17, 2022. Critiques will be visible only to your Final Project Group.
  5. Review the critique of your flier. Update your flier, and post your final informational flier to Final Informational Flier by May 8, 2022. These fliers will be visible to the rest of the class.
  6. Check out your classmates’ hard work!

Post any questions you have for the Final Project in the Final Project Questions. Please check to see if other students have asked questions as well. I also encourage you to post answers to other students’ questions.

Recommended Software

You are welcome to use any software to create your informational flier. Students in the past used Canva and Google slides, which are free online, and also PowerPoint. From my experience, Microsoft Word is not the best for making a flier. The website blog capterra lists other free software to use as well.
