Grand Canyon University Community Health Discussion
Description
Through this model communities are empowered to work alongside experts in creating healthier communities. With this in mind it is crucial to consider resource-poor and resource – rich countries and how this influences the ability to conduct and implement research, is thought-provoking. While it is often perceived this barrier is specific to other countries, there are many communities across the world that struggle to meet the needs of the population, let alone conducting new research (Shayan et al., 2019). The evidence-based practice method requires clinical experience with the most credible recent research evidence when making decisions in healthcare practice (Shayan et al., 2019). Without the support of stakeholders or an interdisciplinary team that does not have cohesion, it is nearly impossible to successfully conduct and implement research (Shayan et al., 2019). Barriers of implementation of evidence-based practices include: inadequate information sources, lack of knowledge of evidence-based practices, inadequate staffing, lack of organizational support, and scope of practice barriers dependent on jurisdiction (Shayan et al., 2019). Even when an organization is not equipped to carry-out research or embrace new standards of practice, continuing to grow knowledge in personal practice and specialty by becoming a lifelong learner. Advanced Registered Nurses play an important role in how each provides value, quality and experience in providing care for patients (Shayan et al., 2019). Acting as a leader in these roles, practicing integrity, and safety daily will be the example to others that do not have the knowledge base of the next. Each have a different skill-set that is just as valuable as the next (Shayan et al., 2019).
