Get Your Boss to Buy In Summary

you will summarize a resource related to that class’ topic or readings. The purpose is to provide a new perspective or insight to share with your classmates.

Your “fresh idea” should generally be relatively recent (last 3 years), or an idea that is older but you feel hasn’t yet made it into the ‘mainstream’ of management thought. This could be:

A book or a book chapter

A magazine or newspaper article

A paper from an academic journal

A video or film

A podcast episode

A website or blog post

Your job will be to prepare a one page summary (single spaced, 12pt font) that has three basic sections:

“Here’s the idea.” Concisely summarize the idea in an accessible and easily understood way.

“Here’s how it fits.” Explain how it enhances, adds to, complements, or challenges the ideas from the week’s assigned readings.

“Here’s how to put it into action.” Suggest a concrete step or behaviour that other students could try in their professional lives to put this idea into practice
