GCU The Stetler Model of Research Discussion

Description

The Stetler Model of Research Utilization focuses on perspective and safely facilitates the translation of research into practice (Indra, 2018). This model contains six phases: preparation, validation, comparative evaluation, decision-making, translation and application, and evaluation. Once a practice problem is identified, a practitioner evaluates the organization’s readiness for change and identifies sources for research (Indra, 2018). Next, reviewing research through systematic review for validity, reliability, and accuracy can further understand the problem and determine if the research supports the question (Indra, 2018). Assessing for resources needed, risk factors, and the readiness for the organization to accept this change (Indra, 2018). Comparing current standards to the proposed change, addressing and effectively implementing the new practice, and identifying stakeholders to support this change in practice (Indra, 2018). Once implemented, this is a continual process that needs constant reassessments and amendments of practice to further increase safety and understanding (Indra, 2018). The Stetler Model allows practitioners to evoke the thought process of implementing research into practice.
