Marginalized groups often have less access to resources and services. Unfortunately, some organizations, providers, and people further marginalize and isolate groups by creating information that excludes these groups, uses language that privileges majority groups, or leaves out the inclusion of services for these individuals. As a way to consider this point further, take a closer look at television commercials to determine if you can identify the target demographic the advertisers are addressing. Or, do the same the next time you drive by billboards or flip through a magazine. What types of people do you see wearing the clothes they are trying to sell? Or, using the products? Who is left out? If you were preparing the advertising, how might you remedy this?
One way to advocate for marginalized populations and to create an equal playing field is to create brochures and material that use inclusive language and visuals, and directly addresses the needs of the marginalized population.
This week, you will create a brochure for a specific service for a selected marginalized population of your choosing. In your brochure, be sure to include the following:
- Advertise a service you would like to offer a marginalized population. Examples might include therapy, consultation services, educational workshops, support groups, legal support, etc. (feel free to think of other examples you might use in your future career and ask your professor if you have an idea you would like to discuss).
- Be sure to use inclusive language and pictures.
- Include information specific to the marginalized population and define how your service will specifically meet the needs of that identified group.
- Include a FAQ section that includes three to four questions and answers to further clarify the needs of the group for your intended audience.

The completed assignment should address all of the assignment requirements, exhibit evidence of concept knowledge, and demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the content presented in the course. The writing should integrate scholarly resources, reflect academic expectations and current APA standards
