As part of the benchmark assignment, you will design a wellness mini-unit and end of unit event that covers health and nutrition, safety, and fitness for a kindergarten classroom. In preparation, you will develop mini-lessons throughout the course and research related community organizations, agencies, or resources in order to design a technology-based resource for families and colleagues.

, design a safety mini-lesson appropriate for the kindergarten students described in the “Class Profile.” Lesson topics may include, but not limited to:

Accident prevention

Fire and/or natural disaster safety

• Food safety
• Emotional safety
• Trauma
• For this mini-lesson, complete the Planning section of the “COE Lesson Plan Template.” Make sure the lesson is developmentally appropriate and addresses the multiple influences on early development and learning.
