GCC Gradebook Project Excel Worksheet

GCC Gradebook Project Excel Worksheet

Description

The activities in this project are designed to provide experience with dynamic gradebook calculation using Microsoft Excel.

Scores for each assignment will be entered to simulate student performance in this course. The activity scores will be arranged in their respective categories and totaled. The total scores per category will be multiplied by the weights shown in the course syllabus to arrive at a letter grade according to the grading policy in the syllabus.

The grade calculations you provide shall demonstrate grading for a minimum of five students.

Before you begin the project, be sure to watch the Project 1 introduction video posted in the learning module.

For a general explanation of what weighted grading calculation is, please watch the following video before starting the project, but be aware, this is not what I am looking for in your project deliverables. This video merely explains the concept of weighted grading and why it may be used in course. You must follow the guidance provided to you in the Project 1 introduction video.2. Project Instructions

Design a spreadsheet to calculate course grades using the following categories and conditions:

Course Participation 10%

  • Presence in the course worth 100 points
  • 13 Discussion Boards worth 10 points each
  • 8 Technical Analysis Assignments worth 25 points each
  • 1 Social Media Exercise worth 50 points

MyLab Assignments 20%

  • 9 Video exercises worth 5 points each
  • 8 Simulations worth 25 points each
  • 10 Quizzes worth 25 Points each

Projects 40%

  • 3 Projects worth 100 Points each
  • Average of all projects

Exams 30%

  • 3 Exams worth 100 points each
  • Lowest exam score is dropped

Configure your solution to set a numeric final grade for the course.

Configure your solution to translate the numeric grade to the letter grade using the corresponding scale in the course syllabus.

Overall design and functionality will be evaluated for grading the assignment. The gradebook should be dynamic. This means you can input different grades for the five students and expect to arrive at expected grading outcomes. Also, this project will be useful to calculate your own grade in this course. So, if you are at a B in the course, you will have an opportunity to forecast which grades will be needed to pass with an A.
