Your assignment is to complete a much more in-depth analysis of your topic than what is provided by your text. In law school, students are often required to present their writings in what is called the IRAC format. IRAC stands for Issue, Rule, Analysis, and Conclusion. Find an issue in your area of law. For example: In criminal law, the court system is constantly attempting to balance citizens’ rights under the Fourth Amendment and the need for police to conduct searches and seizures in order to protect those citizens.

Once you have your issue or issues, then provide support for your position using case law, statutes, regulations, and scholarly articles. Present pros and cons to your position on the issue because nothing in the law is clear-cut. Once you have provided your rules and analysis, then write a conclusion/solution to the issue presented at the beginning of your paper.
