There are two parts to completing the Job Analysis Comparison Table
1. Part 1: Your analysis of your dream job
2. Part 2: O*NETs analysis of your dream job
PART1
Think about your dream job (i.e, what you want to be when you grow up, what you are going to college for) and then answer
the following questions:
1. What is your job title?
a. Write the job title in the Part I column.
2. Describe the job using a job-orientated approach. What are your primary responsibilities?
a. Write down 3 tasks you expect to be doing on a day-to-day basis in the Part 1 Column.
3. Describe the job using a person-orientated approach. What will make you successful at what you do?
a. What KSAO’s do you think will define your success? Come up with 2 examples for each the following and write
them in the Part I column:
• Knowledge
• Skills
• Abilities
4. Indicate what salary you think you will earn in the Part 1 column
Go to: http://www.onetonline.org. At the top right corner you will see a search icon labeled “Occupation Quick Search”. Enter
in your dream job title here and click the arrow. If there is not a direct match, try to find something similar from the search
results.
1. Enter the job title you selected in the Part II column.
2. According to O*NET, what are the tasks associated with this position?
a. List 3 tasks from the O*NET page in the Part II column (it is okay to copy and paste).
3. According to O*NET, what are the KSAOs associated with this position?
a. List 2 of the following from the O*NET page in the Part II column ( again, it is okay to copy and paste):
