When analyzing data, we will use both descriptive and inferential statistics to describe our data. So what makes descriptive statistics so important?

Descriptive statistics describe the characteristics of data by using measures of central tendency and measures of spread. These allow readers to understand the makeup of your sample and data without seeing each data point. Understanding one value (such as the mean) is much easier than processing each participant’s information separately.

Descriptive statistics can also be shown by using graphics to display values in a visual manner. For example, a graph could should the spread of a sample’s experience level, where experience level is measured in hours. In this case, the x axis could be the number of hours, and the y axis could be the number of participants who reported each value. This would allow readers to see the spread of the sample’s experience at a glance.

Why is an abstract important in a research paper?

Some of the research papers are long and it is hard for some people to read it all. However, the abstract can be a short description showing or explaning the main points of the research and its summary. When it comes to review a research, the abstract section would make it easier for the reviewer to understand the research. In addition, if the research needs a future study, others can look for a relevance without reading the whole research.
