FGCU Increasing Consumer Knowledge of The Respective Products Discussion Responses
Description

Advertising has a few good benefits to consumers. The first benefit would be that it can broaden a consumers knowledge of different services and products they can use. Maybe someone has cancer, and a new pharmacological process is developed to cure or treat that certain type of cancer. That can benefit someone’s life immensely. I would say some or most advertising though is dangerous. It can infest itself into our daily life and pollute our mind-space with unnecessary information. Especially given products like certain drugs or alcohol that can be dangerous. Overall I would say if theres an age restriction on a product, the advertising needs an age restriction as well.

A positive advertisement typically fulfills the goal of getting a consumer to purchase a product or service. Advertisements that send a positive message are more effective than those that send negative messages. Consumers are more likely to support a company that uses positive promotional techniques than those that focus on negative promotional strategies. An example of a positive benefit from advertising is a local clinic advertising free flu vaccines for those in need. An example of the negative effects of advertising is a cigarette company using images that are eye-catching to a younger audience to inadvertently promote their products.
All advertising should be regulated to help restrict the negative impacts of certain marketing strategies that companies tend to use to gain more profit.
