he white paper is a genre that’s used in several different industries and for a myriad of purposes. It also can vary greatly in length and several other aspects. Despite these wide ranging differences within the genre of the white paper, it’s still important to analyze a few models so that you can decide how you’d like to write yours.
The following lesson, therefore, is intended to help you notice the language and genre conventions of a white paper across three sample texts. We will use a Language and Genre Analysis Table to analyze these texts and compare and contrast their features. I have done one sample text for you, and in this lesson you will complete the other two. Then, you will answer a few questions.
