ENG 201 John Jay College Week 3 Ethnographic Research Discussion

Last week you wrote a proposal in which you identified an ethnographic research question from your subway/commuting experiences. Now, you need to find some outside scholarly resources that could inform, support, and/or dialogue with your investigative question and exploration. 

Other people have researched a topic similar to yours, so you need to find some of those similar studies in the John Jay library databases, read them, analyze them, and then consider how you will incorporate their ideas into your ethnographic writing.  As you do this, consider how you can paraphrase their ideas, insert direct quotations, synthesize multiple authors’ points, and integrate this mix of thinking about the subway with your own observations, claims, and interpretations about underground phenomena.
