If a person has excess amount of T3 circulating in their blood stream, they may have difficulty gaining weight. What are the names of the T3 and T4 hormones from the thyroid gland? Why do you think a person with excess T3 might have trouble gaining weight? Thyroxine is often prescribe for patients that have a hard time losing weight ( even though this is not the best way to use this medication). Why do you think a morbid obese patient might be given thyroxine medication?
