Question
- For most of our class, we have focused on understanding, analyzing, and critiquing arguments or pseudo arguments made by others. The purpose of this was to develop the skill to think critically about the arguments presented by others in order to make rational decisions and avoid being misled. In this Final Exam question, you will think critically about your own life by responding to the following prompt:
- Reflect on a difficult decision you are personally facing (or will face in the near future) that may have momentous consequences for your life – a decision you believe will have a profound impact on your quality of living. Analyze the argument(s) you have been mulling over pertaining to this decision.
- As part of your analysis, you are required to do the following:
Describe the argument(s) and evaluate its/their quality.
Identify any fallacies that may be influencing you.
Critique the believability, accuracy, or clarity of the premises.
And reflect on how your sense of morality, view of free will, and faith (or lack of it) are influencing your decision.
