Each of you has a goal you hope to accomplish after completing your Curry College education. Prepare a 1-3 page paper based on the APA style of report writing (APA Style) (Links to an external site.).explaining why and how Technical Communications will be important to your future career.

Your paper should include what your personal goal is, what opportunities you will have to create Technical Communications, and what you hope to achieve with those Technical Communications.

Your paper will be graded 50% on technique (spelling, punctuation, paragraphs, structure, construction, etc.) and 50% on content (do you follow the rule of threes? Have you explained your personal goal? Have you described the opportunities? How you hope to fulfill your professional goal.).

Your paper should include a title page, an abstract, a body, and (only if you use outside sources) your sources. If you use no outside sources, do not include a sources page.

When we discuss length in technical writing, we are discussing only the paper’s body. Length in a Technical Communication is not the goal. You need to make your point, following the rule of threes, without filler material. Filler is what motivates readers to look elsewhere for answers. Your paper should be as long as necessary to communicate your complete idea.

Technical writing should not take hours and hours. I outlined how to write a technical paper following the rule of threes in last week’s lecture. If you follow those steps, allowing time between proofreading sessions, you should be able to create a paper in a very few hours.
