Question Description

I’m working on a geology question and need guidance to help me learn.

This last video is on mining lithium, the main component of the lithium ion batteries that are used right now for powering a lot of our tech, from phones to electric cars. Watch Here’s Where the Juice that Powers Batteries Comes From and answer the following questions. You will also need to refer to the USGS Data Sheet for Lithium 2022 and attach periodic table

11) Using the Periodic Tables of Criticality in our Attachment below ), what is the supply risk, environmental implications, and vulnerability to supply restriction criticalities of lithium?

12) Using the USGS Data Sheet for Lithium 2022 (linked above), what country in the world has the largest reserves of lithium? Are there any lithium mines in the United States? Is there a tariff on the import of lithium into the United States?

13) What does the video explain about lithium deposits and how they are mined? Is any version of solar power used in the mining process for lithium?

14) According to the video, what advantage do China and Australia have over Chile in lithium mining even though we can see from the USGS data sheet that China is the third largest producer of lithium, while Australia is first and Chile second?

Last summary question and everyone in the group should contribute an answer to it:

15) Reflecting on what you learned above about renewable energy and storage, what do you expect to see occurring with renewable energy and storage and why do you think this? Are there any technologies for renewable energy or storage that you have heard of that were not discussed here that you would like to share? Do you have any environmental concerns about these technologies?
