CSUF Treating Adolescents with Social Anxiety Disorder in School an Attention Control Trial Article Summary

CSUF Treating Adolescents with Social Anxiety Disorder in School an Attention Control Trial Article Summary

Description

Write 2 summaries for the two articles “Treating adolescents with social anxiety disorder in school an attention control trial”, and “The treatment of childhood social phobia”(each summary has to be one page, no more than one page). I provided the summary for the article “School-based intervention for adolescents with social anxiety disorder results of a controlled study”, but you will still have to read the article to do the discussion.

Summary

Summarize and evaluate each journal article (1 page for each article). The summary should describe:

Main research aims/questions addressed

The sample examined

The research methods utilized

The main results.

A discussion of recognized strengths and limitations of the study

  • NOTE: Summaries should paraphrase the information. DO NOT USE DIRECT QUOTES. After reading all 3 articles, you have to discuss all 3 articles.
  • Discussion: Your discussion of the three articles should focus on congruent and incongruent findings and conclusions between the three articles. Most importantly your discussion should focus on best practices by a professional, paraprofessional, or parent based on the findings.  After reading and studying these articles what questions have been unanswered for you?  What further research would you want to do on this topic to learn more? In preparing this section, students should address the following:
  • Identification of at least one major similarity across the three journal articles. (Note: The topic itself should not be identified as a similarity).
  • Areas in which the three articles do not agree. This can be between two of the articles or perhaps all three.  Most importantly students should address why these conclusions may be incongruent.  How could these incongruences affect best practices, if at all?
  • How would a professional, paraprofessional, or parent use this information in preparing best practices for the adolescent population?
  • After your study of this issue, what further questions do you have about the topic? What further items would you want to research to learn more about the issue presented?  Why do you believe the topic is an important area of study (or not)?
