Is homeland security a subset of national security as it has sometimes been described? What do these two security forces do to keep our country safe? For this assignment, you will compare and contrast homeland security and national security.

Take a closer look at these two security entities by responding to the following prompts and questions that are listed below.

Briefly describe the origins of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its main components. When, how, and why was it created?

How is homeland security different from national security? How are these two entities similar?
