College American Time Management Discussion

College American Time Management Discussion

Description

respond to peers

A willingness to learn is a great asset. Many people are afraid to change or put in the necessary work to master new skills.

Time management is a struggle for many students. It is usually more fun to procrastinate and put assignments off than to do them quickly or stick to a schedule. The stress at the end of the week is really not fun though.

Now that we are in our last week of your first graduate class, how do you think you can keep to your schedule? What did you learn over the last few weeks that you will apply for the remainder of your education? What are some challenges you identified and how will you overcome them?

Please share your thoughts with the class. Thank you

Response:

I always like to share how concepts in class relate to real-life decisions and this is a good one! When Tom Brady and the Bucs lost their playoff game to the Rams (YAY! Sorry Tom Brady/Bucs fans! ;)), reporters immediately asked what Brady’s plans would be. Would he retire? Would be come back next year? Does he think he can win another Super Bowl? Brady responded in typical Brady fashion and did not give much information, saying he is focusing on today.

This is a great example of emotional intelligence and responsible decision making. As the article notes, one of the biggest mistakes we make in the workplace is making decisions that are based on quick emotions. After reading the article, share a time when you or a co-worker made an emotional decision that did not have a positive result. When you are put on the spot to make a quick decision and you are not ready to do so, what should you do?
