A nonprofit organization I am familiar with is the Civil Air Patrol. The previous organization was based on doing search and rescue operations and included disaster relief, emergency operations, and homeland security missions. (“Civil Air Patrol”, 2022) The three most important concepts that the organization should consider are effectiveness, performance measurement, and strategic planning. The previous concepts can be found in the textbook on pages 160 for effectiveness, 159 for performance measurement, and 186 for strategic planning. Effectiveness is described as measuring and comparing a short-term or long-term goal that was accomplished to what goal needed to be accomplished. (Worth, 2022) Performance measurement is described as an organization doing something and then they are graded on how well it did it. (Worth, 2022) Strategic planning is described as planning and thinking about an action before it is executed. (Worth, 2022) The organization I choose can benefit from Considering effectiveness because if the operations are effective and productive, they can accomplish the missions that they are tasked to do. The organization I choose can also benefit from considering performance measurement because getting graded on how successful a mission was carried out can give everyone an idea of what they have to continue to do so they can continue to get the same good results. The final concept is that strategic planning can benefit the organization I choose because it will keep the organization very organized when it comes to conducting missions especially crucial missions that need planning and thinking before acting. The application of the topic reflects gods purpose or design because in the topic I mentioned strategic planning and how it benefits everyone planning ahead but this bible verse says, “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” (Proverbs 19:21, 2022) The previous verse means that God is in control of what will happen even though you have planned ahead for something he is always in control.

Efficiency is a measure of the proportion of resources used to produce outputs or attain inputs (Worth, 2020). Efficiency is important in any organization because it determines how well an organization is able to produce output in an effective way. This includes things like preventing the waste of resources and improving in different areas to create a smoother running operation. The Red Cross would benefit from efficiency because an efficient organization is able to better serve its customers and employees

External vision statements- pg 192

An external vision statement is a declaration that describes a desire the organization has for the world. Nonprofits are the masters of these statements, because they inspire others to partner with the organization and help to work towards the goal of the organization. An external vision statement for nonprofit organizations like the Red Cross is crucial to their operations. Nonprofit organizations strive to create a better world by impacting their external communities. Therefore, it is important for the Red Cross to have a strong external vision statement. Red Cross’ current vision statement is: The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

The values and vision go hand in hand with one another. The values of an organization are a set of core beliefs held by an organization. The values are the guiding principles that provide an organization with a purpose and direction. Values are how the company will determine what is important to them. These values help to manage how the organization interacts with both customers and employees. For example, if a company or organization values diversity, they will be sure to hire people of different races and backgrounds because they value diversity and see its importance.

I believe God sees an organization’s values as important. There are several values mentioned in the Bible. One of the most important values relates to how we treat others. God wants us to be servants to one another. He also wants us to treat others with love. This applies to the workplace as well. If companies adapt the value of love, they will be able to treat employees and customers well. The Bible says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others” (Philippians 2:3-4, New International Version).
