Bellevue College Biblical Teaching to Contemporary Christian Living Essay
Description
Each student will be placed in a group of two to four students to prepare and present 15-20 minutes in class on a passage assigned by the professor. The following instructions should be helpful:
a. Each group member must participate in the preparation and presentation of the material.
b. Groups can, but are not required to, use visual aides in presenting their passage.
c. The presentation should include all of the following (and perhaps be divided among the group members similarly): historical context of the passage (at what point in the narrative did it occur and what was going on at the time?), interpretation of the passage (what did the writer intend for it to mean?), big idea of the passage (if you narrowed it down to one main thing), and application of the passage for today’s Christian readers (what do we do with it today?). More specific information will be provided by the professor in class.
d. Each group must submit in Blackboard a written paragraph providing a brief overview of the items mentioned in c. immediately above prior to the presentation, as part of the online assignments for the course.
e. The groups/passages will be assigned early in the semester and the presentations will occur after Spring Break. Exact presentation dates, along with the date to submit the written overview, will be forthcoming and provided in ample time to give each group more than a month to prepare. Likely passages upon which the presentations will be given are as follows:
Acts 6:1-8:1 Stephen’s Martyrdom
Acts 8:1-3, 9:1-19 Saul’s Conversion
Acts 10 Peter and Cornelius
Acts 16:16-40 Paul and Silas Imprisoned
Passage given is Acts 10 Peter and Cornelius. You only have to do the application of the passage.
