BC Christian Life Discussion
Description
Luther claimed that “it is our duty and obligation to pray if we would be Christians.” He also said, that prayers “on my account would amount to nothing; but it shall avail, for the reason that God has commanded it. Therefore everybody, no matter what he has to say in prayer, should always come before God in obedience to this commandment.” Do you agree with Luther? If prayer is such a vital part of the spiritual health and strength of individuals, and congregations, then why don’t we pray more? What suggestions do you have that might help to strengthen the prayer life of an individual, and congregation? I would also like for you to share any other insights you’ve gleaned from Luther’s life or writings during this session. For example, how was Luther’s perception of Rome (particularly whenever he visited the city), or his view about indulgences, similar to what is going on in the Church today? How does Luther’s understanding of the Church compare to your understanding of the Church?
