AUST Money Alone Was Not Enough by Elizabeth Cape

Write paper based reading of “Money alone was not enough” by Elizabeth Capel and a visit to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

In your paper:

• Give what you feel are Capel’s key points about Isabella Gardner and her collection.
• Choose three works of art or groupings of art objects that you feel either support or contradict one of Capel’s points, and take photographs of them.
  • Be aware that the Gardner Museum does host exhibits of art that are NOT part of her collection. ONLY use the art in the old building section that is hers.
• Your images should be included at the END of your paper. (ill later visit the museum and take a picture of whatever artwork of hers ones chosen)
• Explain how these objects either support or refute Capel’s points
• Compare the way the Gardner Museum presents art to the viewer to what you have experienced at the Museum of Fine Arts. How are they different? How are they similar?
• Keep in mind: remember to distinguish between what Capel thinks, and what Capel tells us other people think or have thought.
