Would you consider police officers’ attack on civil rights movement demonstrators attempting to cross the Edmunds Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, an act of State-sponsored Terrorism? State-sponsored terrorism reached its heights in American history with government tolerance of slavery, followed by a century of Jim Crow. One of the crowning moments in American history was the peaceful march of demonstrators over the Edmund Pettus Bridge in 1965; these demonstrators were attacked on the bridge by police officers and members of racist organizations.
