Background
In your first project, you extended an argument made in an article by looking at each major
claim the writer made.  Now we are going to evaluate the argument to say whether the
argument is effective or effective in some ways but ineffective in other ways.  This kind of
evaluation is called a critical analysis, a formalized critical reading of a passage that explains to
your reader what the argument is and how it works and why it is or is not effective.   
A critical analysis is then a systematic evaluation of a text and relies not on personal opinion (I
don’t like it) but on systematic logical analysis.  Critical analyses are arguments in which
evaluate the article by using criteria such as whether the author uses reasonable logical claims,
has valid evidence, employs appropriate organization, writes in acceptable style and so on.
