Annotation practice?
Description
One of the most challenging tasks of writing an argumentative research paper is the annotated bibliography. This essentially is a works cited list (as you would have with any academic research paper) that includes detailed notes about each citation.
Now that you have settled on your topic (and hopefully found a few sources for it) I would like you to practice some annotating. Using at least 4 sources – create citations for each and then create annotations.
A brief summary of the source
The source’s strengths and weaknesses
Its conclusions
Why the source is relevant in your field of study
Its relationships to other studies in the field
- An evaluation of the research methodology (if applicable)
- Information about the author’s background
- Your personal conclusions about the source and how you may use it in your research
