However, the development of Human Rights law in the 19th century and particularly the 20th century through today has challenged these Westphalian principles. Today’s model (also in transition) is often called the Charter-based model. How does the charter-based model of sovereignty differ from the Westphalian model of sovereignty? Why is this change necessary to accommodate human rights? How is Westphalia still influential? In your answer it is important to define/describe both Westphalian and Chart-based sovereignty.
