I believe the second law in Newton’s three laws of motion would be most important to physics.  If we consider the first law to be foundational, in other words, because objects at rest, want to stay at rest, and those in motion, want to continue that motion the law of inertia, first deduced by Galileo, gives us no real distinction. Now, consider the forces acting upon the object in rest or in motion.  The second law, or game-changer, of motion, combines forces applied to an inertial reference, as stated in the study guide.  The second law provides a quantitative description. To further elaborate, in nature forces exist all around us and apply to every task we do i.e., getting out of bed, brushing our teeth, drinking, eating. Lastly, Newton’s third law action and reaction further analyzes forces, but as they exist in pairs.  The magnitude of the force is equal, scalar, but the direction is opposite vector.
