This week discuses ideologies and parties, my topic today will be discussing the democratic party in New York. According to the New York Times, ” the political calculus is far more complicated”. Representative Max Rose, democrat running for Congress in New York, contradicts the previous republican candidate in congress. While most of New York is democratic, Rose is running for staten island which is mainly republican. There has been conflict between voters and rose because of this fact. Ms. Malliotakis, a republican candidate, states that because New York is mostly democratic, she should be elected to create a balance since democrats grasp more than republicans. According to New York Times, ” “We need a balance … we don’t have that right now at the city, state or federal level. And I think the pendulum has swung too far to the left” (New York Times). There are many issues that the struggle to agree on with the citizens including the new law of abortion restrictions. In conclusion, the ideology of equality in terms of political representation is a concerning topic in government.
