M5: Shared Reading Videos and Responses Discussion
Description
Purpose: To understand how to design and implement a shared reading lesson appropriate for beginning readers.
Directions: Watch and discuss the video of Ms. Chan teaching first graders a shared reading using the guiding questions that follow.
watch days 1, 2 and 3 of Ms. Chan continuing to teach her first graders the shared reading lesson.
- as you view each shared reading lesson day, think of how that session addresses each question in blue below
display your responses on the discussion; you do not need to answer all the questions for all the days; you can summarize your response into two to three paragraphs
- provide feedback on the response to at least one classmate. Feedback must be positive highlighting an important point your classmate brings forward in his/her response or perhaps identifying your recognition of a point he/she makes that may offer a new perspective for you.
