I’m working on a political science multi-part question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

Use Winston’s framework for your answers. You can do some Internet research to learn context and ideas, but try to keep that to under 30 minutes.

1) We already know your goal: win the 2023 governor’s election. Let’s assume your candidate has made it to the runoff election against a candidate of the other party.  

2) Situational awareness. Write about 100 words about situational awareness. Here’s a start: Democrat John Bel Edwards won with 56% of the vote in 2015 and 51% of the vote in 2019. Republican Donald Trump got 58% of Louisiana’s presidential vote in 2016 and 2020. What else can you add?

3) Define winning coalition. Write about 100 words on what your winning coalition would look like.

4) Strategic Communication Plan. Write about 200 words on a few messages you’ll use, how you’ll get those messages to voters, and why you chose those messages and modes.
