Assignment Criteria

Each group will present an overview of three (3) nursing/non-nursing theories: 1-Grand, 1-Middle and 1- Situation-specific or Borrowed theory using a PPT presentation that includes the following information.

1.Select a grand nursing theory

a.Categorize the chosen grand theory (Human Needs, Interactive Process, or Unitary Process)

b.Discuss relevant background information

c.Describe the theorist’s definition of person, health, environment, and nursing

d.Major assumptions, concepts, and relationships

e.Usefulness in practice

2.Select a middle range nursing theory

a.Purpose of chosen middle range theory

b.Overview of chosen middle range theory

c.Major concepts and relationships

d.The origin of the theory (Grand theory, Non-nursing theory)

e.Nursing implications for practice

3.Select a situation-specific theory or borrowed theory

a.Explain the purpose of the theory

b.Major assumptions, concepts, or central concepts

c.Application/relationship to nursing

d.Usefulness to nursing

Show the interrelationship of the three theories on nursing practice to improve patient outcomes using a simple relational diagram in Microsoft Power Point

Maximum number of slides 20 not including the title slide and reference slides.

Three (3) peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles are required. The course textbooks may be used in addition to the scholarly journal articles and relative internet sites such as
