Post University Dissociative Disorders Discussion
Description
Everyone dissociates occasionally, which we call “spacing out.” While we’ve been discussing situations where the behavior reaches the level of “disorder,” this is an opportunity to share how you occasionally “dissociate.” For example, when you drive right by the exit on the freeway because you are thinking of something else. Based on your readings and DSM-5 criteria, do you think this is a disorder (why or why not)? Are there other environmental or situational factors associated with this type of “spacing out?” Please share your example and thoughts to these questions in detail.
As you learn about dissociative disorders, you can see that there are differing perspectives (points of view, controversies, etc.) regarding diagnosis, causes(etiology), and treatments. Choose a perspective regarding diagnosis, etiology, or treatment. Explain the perspective, and discuss the strengths and weaknesses associated with the perspective. In response to your peers, discuss why you agree or disagree with your peer’s response. Please be sure to use APA 7th edition and scholary sources. Ask a question for your peers to answer. I have attached 2 of my peers post so you can provide an answer to them as well as stated. Please be sure to cover everything in your answer.
