BCC Personality and Communication Exercises
Description
Both of these exercises need to be put into one word document.
Exercise #1 Personality and Communication
(350-word minimum total length for this exercise)
Put all terms from the lecture in bold font
Step 1: Listen to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Lecture (30 min) click here
Step 2: Identify your predicted 4 letter personality at the top of your exercise.
Step 3: Take the Jung Typology assessment at http://www.humanmetrics.com/ (Links to an external site.) (found in the upper-left corner of your screen). Identify your assessed personality directly below your predicted personality.
Step 4: Answer the following questions demonstrating an understanding of the lecture content in a narrative of 350-word minimum total length (not per question).
You can discuss your predicted personality or assessed personality—whichever one you feel is most accurate.
1. How do you demonstrate each of the four functions (Extroversion or Introversion, Sensing or Intuition, Thinking or Feeling, Perceiving or Judging)? Be sure to cover all four functions and include content from the MBTI lecture in your discussion. In addition, be sure to use examples.
2. How does your personality influence your perception of others?
EXERCISE #2 Culture and Empathy
(350-word minimum total length for this exercise)
Step 1: Identify three specific cultural orientations (discussed in the Introduction to Culture lecture) you demonstrate.
Step 2: Explain how your 3 cultural orientations (slides 11-12) influence your self-concept and perception of others. Be sure to use examples. (i.e. If you are from a monochronic time orientation culture how do you react to a friend who demonstrates behavior from a polychronic time orientation?)
Step 3: Now that you have a better understanding of the concepts of culture and the three dimensions of empathy (p. 128-129), discuss how you could demonstrate greater empathy toward others who are culturally different from you? Please provide a specific discussion of each of the three dimensions of empathy mentioned on p. 128-129.
