Michigan University Sports Analytics Algorithms Bibliography
Description
Overview and Rationale
The first step in your project is to understand the domain expertise of the capstone. This will allow you to become an “expert within the domain area” so that you can provide a comprehensive and efficient solution for your client.
In order to develop the expertise needed, you are asked to do research about the domain. This means finding scholarly peer reviewed articles specific to the domain and the challenges that are found within the domain. These articles should also have relevance to the business question from the sponsor or the business questions that will help you define a solution (crafted by you).
As you begin to gather articles and sources, you may want to develop a map to help organize and categorize the articles and research you are doing along the way for this project. There are a variety of tools available to you to create visual maps.
Instructions
In Module 2, submit a short summary {typically in 2-3 paragraphs} for each of the articles reviewed in Module-1 & -2 {see Notes -1 & -2 below}. The summaries should include:
- An APA citation of the article
- A short summary of the main points of the article
- The findings of the research
- A statement of how the article is related to the business question of the capstone project (analytical tool) and/or your individual research proposal
This document will be the foundation of what in academic circles is called Literature Review. A synthesized version of the content created in this bibliography can be reused for the literature review section of Capstone Report and Indiivdual Research Proposal.
NOTE-1: During module-1, you were asked to review three peer-reviewed research articles. During Module-2, you are expected to review three or more peer-reviewed research articles. This current annotated bibliography should include summary of all articles reviewed.
NOTE-2: Student groups have been configured with respect to two business analytics domains: 6 groups for Sports Analytics, and 1 group for Power System Failure Analytics. Students from Power Systems group can submit this annotated bibliography for fewer articles because their effort from Module-1 can’t be reused here. However, it is expected that during the remaining weeks, this group will catch-up with necessary literature review.
