In Reading 18 in Business and Film: A Reader, Kant’s theory of categorical imperative is described as a “moral duty” or an “absolute command” (Fieser, 2022, Reading 18.3, Section 1.3 Moral Standards). Using film clips from the interactive and the Wall Street and The Rainmaker clips, choose two clips and identify whether the main character is portraying the idea of the categorical imperative.
In an initial post
Summarize the part in the scene that swayed your opinion one way or the other.
Explain your reasoning.
Discuss the rationale of the character(s) in the clips.
Why are they adopting or not adopting the categorical imperative?
Are they perhaps adopting another moral standard?
(e.g., virtue theory, duty theory, utilitarianism)
