The 4 pillars of SMS include safety policy, safety assurance, safety promotion, and safety risk. I will provide several sources that have to do with industries incorporating one or more of the 4 pillars of safety management. The goal is to firstly explain and define the 4 pillars of SMS. The goal for this essay is to then explain how those industries have implemented safety pillars and ways they did it successfully. Your task is to show how organizations have developed their SMS. Also include how the creator of the SMS would identify the jobs in their respective organizations. Look at the titles of the sources I have provided and you can get an idea what pillar the industry will be talking about. For this essay you can use safety policies from any industry and it doesn’t have to be from a specific industry. The sources I will include have to do with industries such as construction and railroad. Look for keywords in the sources titles to get an idea of what it is about. Some of the sources have nothing to do with an industry and should only be used as support or clarification of a certain point. When citing a source make sure to put it in APA 7 and put source number.

The thesis will be appropriately structured utilizing the 4 pillars of SMS. The student will properly cite all sources for the final paper. These sources may include government documents, peer-reviewed articles, journals, and textbooks.
