In this assignment, you are the lead sport scientist for ESPN’s Sport Science show. You will select a sport skill and create a video discussing/demonstrating/analyzing the movement using the information gained from this course. You will first need to decide if you would like to complete this project individually or as part of a group (no more than 4 members per group). If you decide to be a part of a group, you will need to contact your group members and each member must sign themselves up via the sign-up sheet below. The sign-up sheet will close on March 25th at 11:59 pm. Once the sign-up sheet closes, it will not re-open, so make sure each group member’s name is listed.

Once you have chosen your group or decided to complete it individually, you will then need to select one skill from the list below to analyze.

Skill analysis options for the final project:

• Sacrifice bunt baseball or softball
• Baseball Pitch
• Football punting
• Softball pitch
• Javelin throw
• Form tackle for a linebacker on a running back
• Kicking a soccer ball
• The dig or initial pass in volleyball
• Tennis serve

Your video analysis must cover the preliminary, primary, and follow-through movements of the skill. Elements to cover in your video include:

• Use appropriate anatomical terminology for locations and planes
• Use tables, grafts, charts, illustrations for the qualitative/quantitative analysis of your sport skill
• When talking about the skeletal system, name the major bones and types of joints
• When discussing the muscles location, origin, insertion, function (prime mover, antagonist, stabilizer)
• Applications of the Laws of Physics, Newton’s three laws, Center of Gravity, Acceleration/Deceleration, Projectile, Coefficient of Restitution, Coefficient of Friction, Center of Gravity, Base of Support, Mangus Effect, etc.
