Montclair State University Wells Fargo Case Analysis Discussion
Description
- Please read the Wells Fargo Banking Scandal Case analysis (Case 18) from Hitt, Ireland and Hoskisson, Strategic Management: Competitiveness and Globalization (Concepts and Cases), 13th ed., 978-0-357-03383-8, 0-357-03383-3.
- 1) Describe the company (its history, competencies, challenges), its environment (general and industry), and the situation in the case. Include only information that is relevant.
- 2) Identify 2 to 4 strategic issues in the case. Explain why you label these as the strategic issues. Explain (to the degree possible) the likely causes of these issues.
- 3) Identify several alternative decision solutions that the firm could pursue. How would they address the strategic issues? How reasonable in terms of costs/risks/capabilities are these alternatives, given the firm’s competencies and challenges?
- 4) Decide upon and defend a smaller series of recommendations, drawn from the above alternatives, that you endorse. Present your best case for why these recommendations make sense, are optimal, and best address the strategic issues.
- 5) State and briefly explain any other relevant points /thoughts/concerns that you would like to make regarding the case.
- 6) Briefly state 1 to 4 brief key lessons that you learned from the case
- Make sure that your knowledge of course material includes that of corporate governance and strategic leadership, in a significant way. Else your analysis and recommendations for this case will be quite incomplete (at best) and will largely miss the mark.
